History of Mentor, Ohio
Mentor is a city that is located in Lake County, Ohio. It was first established in 1797. President James A. Garfield purchased land and a home in Mentor in 1876 and conducted his very first front porch campaign for US Presidency there. He was the first to use the term Mentorite when referencing the people of Mentor. His home still stands today and is known as the James A. Garfield National Historical Site.
