Naturally, any parent considering a move will consider a prospective community’s education system of prime importance. Mayfield Heights is a member of the Mayfield City School District. This includes four elementary schools: Millridge Elementary, Center Elementary, Lander Elementary, and Gates Mill Elementary.

Middle schools include Millridge Center, and Mayfield Middle. In 2013, Mayfield High School has been recognized by the Washington Post and U.S. News and World Report as one of the nation’s better high schools. In addition, the Cleveland metropolitan area boasts over ten private and faith-based schools, and downtown is just a short drive away.

Institutions of higher learning in the Cleveland area include Cleveland State University, Cuyahoga Community College, Ohio Technical College, the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Cleveland Institute of Art, and Case Western Reserve University.

Most of the employment opportunities available to residents of Mayfield Heights are located in the Greater Cleveland Metropolitan Area, just a short commute away. However, Mayfield Heights is also home to Landerbook and Landerhaven corporate parks, which include multiple employers. Retail districts include the Golden Gate Shopping Center and the Eastgate Shopping Center.

The area’s major medical center is the nearby Hillcrest Hospital, serving Mayfield Heights and several other surrounding communities. Hillcrest Hospital has been recognized as one of the nation’s one hundred best hospitals eleven times, is certified as a Level II Trauma Center, Stroke Center, and Chest Pain Center, and is also accredited by the Commission on Cancer as a Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The hospital offers services including state-of-the-art inpatient and outpatient surgery, pain management, digestive health, neurosurgery, neurology, orthopedics, and high tech imaging. In 2010, the hospital was expanded and renovated at a cost of 163 million dollars, ensuring that all facilities are updated with the latest technology and equipment.

Although Mayfield Heights is a small and modest community, it is in close proximity to all of Cleveland’s job opportunities and entertainment venues. Shopping centers such as Beachwood Mall and Legacy Village are only five miles away. Cleveland’s Little Italy is just seven miles to the west, and Amish Country is twenty miles to the east.

If you’re looking for a quiet, suburban atmosphere in which to settle down and raise a family, Mayfield Heights is an excellent choice. Its close proximity to Cleveland offers residents all of the big city’s entertainment and employment opportunities, without all of the big city hustle-and-bustle.
