Living in Solon
Real estate options are diverse and plentiful. Everything from lots that you can build the house of your dreams on for $50,000, to large luxury homes that can cost seven figures are available in Solon Township. The average range for homes in the area is between $100-900,000, with the more expensive homes in the southeastern part of town.
There are plenty of employment opportunities, with large companies such as Nestle, L’Oreal, and Swagelok being the town’s largest employers. Even with all these industries and offices in the town, Solon maintains a suburban feel that is complimented with its efficient police force, active curbside recycling and composting programs, and its excellent schools.
Solon High school-part of the Solon City School District-has been rated among the top 5 Schools in Ohio, the top 20 High schools in the Midwest, and the top 150 in the nation nearly 10 years running. It’s also close to Cleveland Clinic which is one of America’s best hospitals, as well as many other hospitals in the region.
Activities and events in Solon
The city’s main attraction is the Solon Center for the Arts, home of the Solon Philharmonic Orchestra, and a community theater and gallery that has many performances, classes, and art shows throughout the year, including the Solon art and auto gallery show in July.
The Solon Community Center also has much to offer all those who live in town, including an indoor triathlon in April. At the end of July is Solon Home Days, the town’s largest celebration. Solon has three golf courses, and Solon Community Park-one of several-is near its town center, which is full of shopping centers and restaurants.
On the northeast end of town is the South Chagrin Reservation, part of Cleveland’s Metroparks system. Just 20 miles away is Cleveland and Lake Erie, with all the attractions that Cleveland has to offer, from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, to the Great Lakes Science Center, Lakefront Nature Preserve, and the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.
